Scarlett Johansson’s husband is having a wonderful summer. After his scene-stealing turn in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and a starring role in the romantic comedy hit The Proposal, Hollywood is more eager than ever to sign Ryan Reynolds for his next film.
But Reynolds is staying away from blockbuster projects for now and has chosen a low-budget independent film as his next project. In Buried the actor will play a civilian contractor who's kidnapped in Iraq. He awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife. The movie will focus almost entirely on Reynolds’ character as he attempts to figure a way out of his predicament. This claustrophobic story will be directed by the Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortés, who is relatively unknown outside his home country. The shooting is due to start this month in Barcelona.
